Art work needs the protection of glass to prevent dust,
pollution and insects from damaging the art. Some
glazing offers protection from the color-fading effects
of sunlight and fluorescent lights. No glass offers full
protection from UV, but some types are better than
others. The best protection is to hang art in areas of
lower light levels.
There are a variety of glazing materials available
today. New York Frame offers a variety of glass products
that are most commonly used in the framing trade, that
offer protection of your art work for years to come.
Glass Available
Clear Glass
Most used glass because of its reasonable price and it displays
art work with the least interference to the colors in the art. It
offers minor UV (ultraviolet) protection.
Non-glare Glass
Non-glare
glass provides relief from reflection glare but not from UV fading.
It has seen improvements over the years, but still grays down the
colors of the art and should not be used with more than one mat
because distortion worsens.
Conservation
Protects art work from the ultraviolet rays of the sun and
fluorescent lights up to 95%.
